Join us on a hike deep in the Icelandic highlands, in Fjallabak nature  reserve. Expect rhyolite and obsidian color palette, volcanic landscape  and geothermal activity. The night before the hike you will stay at  Midgard Base Camp. During the evening the guide will gather the group  for a briefing. The next day after breakfast the group is driven into  Fjallabak.

We will decide on the exact route depending on conditions. Possible  routes include: Rauðibotn, Strútur, the area close to Mt. Mælifell, Mt.  Hattfell, Hólmsárlón, Hólaskjól and Álftavatnakrókur.

A hamburger barbecue and cold beer/soda will await the group after  the hike. The group is then driven back to Midgard Base Camp where you  can relax tired muscles in the rooftop hot tub and then continue  celebrating at the bar. When ready you enjoy another good night’s sleep  at Midgard Base Camp.

For whom is this trip?

This hike is for anyone who wants to go deep into the Icelandic  highlands and experience raw wilderness and peacefulness. We will make  sure that the pace suits all levels, beginners and more experienced  hikers. This hike is 8-12 km. Accommodation at our very own Midgard Base Camp

We have created the ideal base for your adventure in Iceland and  welcome you to our second home, Midgard Base Camp. We offer a mix of  dorms and private rooms. We have aimed at creating a family feeling  where you can enjoy the rooftop sauna, hot tub, our restaurant and the  bar. We have amazing chefs at our restaurant that will make sure you get  to taste delicious locally sourced produce. We cater for all diets,  vegetarian and vegan as well as meat and fish eaters.

Our dorms have uniquely designed bunk beds with privacy curtains,  bedside lights, electrical charging sockets and blackout blinds. One  lockable drawer per each bunk bed. Toilets and shower facilities are  shared. You will have access to our rooftop hot tub and sauna. Free  wi-fi in all rooms and all communal areas. Access to a drying cabinet.
