05B - Below the Mountains
Discover the beautiful landscape opening up between the mountains and sea in southern Iceland. We ride along the Gljúfurá river to the banks of the Ölfusá river, with views of the famous volcanos Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull, weather permitting. We stop for a lunch break before continuing our ride towards the mountains and along Mt. Reykjafjall, where both sheep and horses graze in the summer. Awaiting us back at our farm are coffee and home-baked cake. During the winter season, we stop at our hotel for soup of the day before continuing our ride towards the mountains.
Please note: The tour is suitable for all levels of riding experience from beginners to advanced. During booking process, we ask our clients to inform us about their riding experience, which helps us to choose the right horse for everyone. Beginners and experienced riders ride together. We always try to tölt as much as possible, but do not gallop for safety reasons.
